Hi, I'm Silas Ulbrich, owner and head chef of The Pantry on Egmont.
I have always had a love for food and have been working in kitchens throughout Australia and across the world since the age of 15. My passion is cooking good quality food for everyone to enjoy.
I started working at The Pantry as head chef in 2012. From my very first shift in this quirky Adelaide cafe I felt at home and knew I had found something special. When the opportunity to own it came up in 2018 I jumped at it!
The Pantry on Egmont is often referred to as "a hidden gem" due to the fact that we are tucked away in the back streets of Hawthorn, South Australia. We use quality ingredients, some of which are sourced from our very own kitchen garden and even the gardens of our amazing customers. We will trade you coffee for your home-grown produce!
We take the war on waste very seriously. We compost all of our food scraps, all of our take away packaging is biodegradable and compostable, plus we are very proud to say we are straw free!
At The Pantry on Egmont we cater to all dietary requirements. We have plenty of gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options on our regular menu.
Bring the kids! We have a wonderful kids menu that includes a colouring in section. We use the same quality products for this menu, but in a more child friendly way.
We also welcome man's best friend. Your dog will love watching the trains pass by as you enjoy a meal or a coffee at one of our outdoor tables.
You can enjoy our cafe after dark with our degustation events, share platter dinners or you can book The Pantry for your own private functions. More information can be found in Dinner Events.
